Chuck Cross, President the Poway Midland-Railroad and Sarah Becker, Old Poway Park’s Recreation Supervisor, met on June 20th to discuss the feasibility of restarting the railroad’s operations. They determined that the current County of San Diego COVID-19 Guidelines of 6 ft Social Distancing would “significantly lower amount of people allowed to ride the train, revenue will be impacted due to low tickets sales. Operating costs to run the train will likely not be fully covered with the lower ridership.” Also, operating the equipment requires volunteers to be closer that 6 ft so their safety was a consideration.
Please check back here for more updates as this COVID-19 Guilelines continue to evolve. Hopefully, we’ll be back in operation soon.
