Holiday Magic Gleams and Glistens at Old Poway Park

A Holiday Tradition Remains Alive in its 13th Year

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind, unique way to bring holiday delights to your family this holiday season, then make sure your plans include experiencing the magic of an old-fashioned tradition during the annual Christmas in the Park, which is always held on the second Saturday in December each year at historic Old Poway Park from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This event is co-sponsored by the City of Poway and the volunteer-based organizations of the Old Poway Park Action Committee.

The volunteers who participate in this event bring Christmas traditions to life. The open house event will show off Old Poway Park in traditional Christmas fashion and is free to the public. This event is a great way to get into the holiday spirit and make family memories that will last a lifetime. The park’s Christmas tree will be officially lighted at 5:15 p.m. and Santa Claus will arrive by train at 5:30 p.m.

In addition to the historic and charming buildings and features, the Heritage Museum and Nelson House will be open with docents on hand. There will be caroling, live musical holiday entertainment, a children’s theater performance, a square dancing performance, craft displays, holiday ornament making, a model railroad display, and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Warm and toasty refreshments and dinner food items, such as chili, corn dogs, tamales, baked goods, sweets, and snacks, will be offered for a nominal fee. For further information, call (858) 668-4576.
